Two UNCG films to show at the Carolina Film and Video Festival

MFA candidates Brandi Berry and Kevin Wells will screen their first year practicum films at CFVF next weekend.

“MASTER, Overseer, slave” (Dir. Brandi Berry)  is an experimental film that explores the duality of scenic beauty that is haunted by disturbing truths. Using the structure of slavery as a vehicle, these images hope to remind the viewer that no matter how beautiful the landscape, ugly things have happened here. For some viewers these images may spark deeper thoughts about people living among us today that suffer while we take in the beauty of their world. All over the world, in the past and present exist the irony of beauty and human suffering.

“Molossia: Nation in the Desert”  (Dir. Kevin Wells) is a documentary revealing the inner workings of the Republic of Molossia, a 1.3 acre micronation located within the state of Nevada, through the eyes of His Excellency Kevin Baugh.
